Applications
for admission to Nazareth Children’s Home Programs are
received from many sources, which include the Department of
Social Services, Juvenile Justice Services and the Mental Health
System.
We accept the “State Application” form from the
Children & Family Services Association of North Carolina.
In order to begin the admission process, the legal custodian
should contact the Social Work Department of Nazareth Children’s
Home. After required records and a signed application are obtained,
the Admissions Committee assesses each applicant’s strengths
and needs, then decides the appropriateness of the child for
the programs.
This assessment determines the type of program for the child.
Prior to any placement of the child to the programs, a preplacement
visit may be required. The visit lasts up to three days, so
the child and family can have the opportunity to meet the staff
and children as well as have the chance to see their living
arrangements. The visit is used as an icebreaker for the child
and a time for the child, family and staff to assess the probability
of a successful placement. All
information regarding the visit is shared during the final
Admissions Committee meeting. It is at this time that a decision
is made to admit the child to a recommended program. Children
who are referred to Nazareth Children’s Home programs
for placement will be accepted without regard to race, religion,
creed, or national origin.
